Kharkush also ''Khaṟkus'' ((ペルシア語: خر کش ); Mountain which attracts the sun) is a mountain of the Hindu Kush in Afghanistan. It is located in Ghazni Province. Kharkusch is one of several mountains name in the Indo-Iranian cultural area or Greater Khorasan ((ペルシア語:خراسان بزرگ )) (old name) with the same name, especially in Persian-speaking countries such as Iran and Afghanistan. ''Khorasan'' ((ペルシア語:خراسان )) is written ''Kharasan'', read and pronounced by locals ''Khorasan''. Khar ((ペルシア語:خر) is an abbreviation for Khor ((ペルシア語:خور) or ''Khorsheed'' ((ペルシア語:خورشيد) for sun). The sun was according to the Iranian mythology, the son of Mithra.
